Going to New York/Cali + Driving

8I'm going to talk about two subjects in one today. First, being that I'm finally traveling to Brooklyn, New York at last! Well I have before but it was only at the airport to catch my next flight to London so that doesn't count. It's going to be for my cousin's wedding and no, I'm not going to be a bridesmaid which is totally fine with me but we're simply going there as guests. I'm not sure how free I will be while I'm there in terms of hanging out with people who reside there but if my mom allows me and my sister to go shopping or sight seeing then maybe I can meet some people within the area. If you're interested, let me know :D That's going to be near the end of June btw. The wedding day is the 26th of June and as for my arrival date, I'm not sure yet but I'll make sure to post all the updated info later in another blog.

As for California, it's still pretty uncertain right now but I do hope to go during the summer even if it's around August. I always wanted to visit several places in Cali and it just seems so right to do it now at this point in my life because by then I'll be a graduate from high school, thus, ending a huge chapter in my life. I know some people say graduating high school isn't as big of a deal as graduating college is but c'mon? Seriously, it probably always will be in today's society, plus it's like tradition to graduate and have a huge celebration for almost everybody! It makes sense. Not to mention, I already know a handful of people who live there and are going to live there by then so I hope to visit each and every single one of you if things pull through for me ^ . ^

Speaking of summer . . . this is the season where I will be going to driving school. "What? You're 17 and you still haven't gone to driving school? You're a looozerrr!" Uhm yeah I know I'm not at the ripest age to start driving but does that really matter? It's not like I'm 30 and still asking for people to take me to work or something haha! Sorry, I just have to get that out there because I get so much shit about it and it's beginning to get ridiculous. I drive when I wanna! END OF STORY! lol! No, in all honesty, the reason why I haven't gone through the process of getting a car, going to driving school, getting a permit, and a license is bc I am a lazy fothermucker and I'm not even gunna sit here an deny it. It seems necessary and unnecessary to put myself through but now that I will no longer be tied down to my school responsibilities then it should be far easier on me. My moms said she'll give me her car once she buys hers some time this year so idk when that will be but I'm more motivated now to drive than ever before since I can have my own car. I'm gunna deck the shit out of it too! Picture will be up once that time comes :D I'm not even gunna reveal what kind of car it is, you'll just have to wait and see.

So, I guess I can end this now. Thanks for reading all this junk haha! That is if you made it all the way down here. If you did, you get to have a cookie *hands out a cookie* Till then! Toodles~

Hair Vlog #1

This is how my hair looks like as of March 20, 2010. Idk why I didn't start this vlog earlier when I posted my hair journey post. Oh well, it's not like it's too late or anything :] My hair has been about this length for well over a year now and I have a feeling that it's because my hairdresser was too scissor happy with doing constant trims (used to be about ever 5-6 weeks) so I figured if I really want to see results for my hair growth I'm going to start getting trims once every six months. So twice a year, which is fine from what I read up on from a African American hair article. Of course I will be more careful with using heat appliances and start using deep conditioners more frequently since I'll be spacing the time out between trims and even dustings (trimming just the split ends you see on the spot). Also, I decided to start getting perms every 8-10 weeks instead of every 6. That way, I can save more money and it won't be as easy for my hair to be overprocessed bc there will be more regrowth to apply it to. Also, after buying EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) I've been putting it in my hair every other week and it really makes a large difference :D It gives it a healthier shine and a smooth texture. I just love the stuff!

I'll post hair vlog #2 April 20th (a month from now) hopefully if I remember haha! So I'll be doing these every month basically to see if I'm making any progress. Wish me luck and if anyone has any advice, tips, or just want to encourage me feel free to leave a comment :D Thanks!

Photography with Erika!

Yesterday, my friend Erika wanted to go out to a nice setting and practice her photography of people besides herself. I of course didn't hesitate to volunteer and she agree to having me be her model for the day which was super fun cuz our friend Kyle joined with us as well! It felt so nice outside and the majority of the trees outside were in full bloom which is always a lovely sight to see :D We went to a nearby park to take the photo shoot and went to a strip mall just to go window shopping after we were done since we were all too broke to do anything else XD I really enjoyed it though! Hopefully I'll do more in the summer if it's okay with her. Here's some the photos of my personal favorites and some pics I took on my camera of the gorgeous accessories and jewelry we saw at Charming Charlies. I love that store! It's better than Sam Moon imo, but just more pricier :T

My little comment on these pictures: Thing I noticed in these pictures was that my hair looked super thin but don't worry, I'm not going bald or anything haha I just got a perm like the day before so it looks like my hair's super thin but it's actually really thick!

Damn blurry shot lol! They had several cute tiaras for a little under 20 dollars. I couldn't help but try one on! That's all the pics from our day out.

Somewhat scary news . . .

A few weeks ago I went to my eye doctor to get my new prescription for my contacts and found out some news that had me a bit concerned. Ever since I was 4, I had terrible vision. From what my old eye doctor told me, as I get older my eyes will stretch and cause my vision to continue to worsen. It's so bad that I'm not an eligible candidate for laser eye surgery anymore. When I went to expect to visit the same doctor I've had for several years, to my surprise there was a new young looking lady instead. After we did the regular tests, she told me it got worse but not drastically. Still, when I hear that nothing is ever improving, I feel a twinge of hopelessness.

She informed about some things my old eye doctor never once brought up or went more into depth about. One of the things were that the more my eyes grow longer as I age, there's a higher possibility of me getting a hole or a tear in my retina and if it completely gets detached I'll most likely be permanently blind if it's not taken care of within the following 2 hours of the incident. This can happen from any head injuries, car accidents, and so forth so she warned me to be very careful. Thing is, I know I'll be careful, but I can't say the same for the world around me. Scarier thought.

Another thing she told me was that wearing my contacts in all day was bad for my eyes because since I don't have breathable lenses, my eyes are basically suffocating causing blood vessels to grow further towards the middle of my eye which can cause permanent blindness. The way to get rid of them is to wear glasses after 8 hours of wearing them which I dreaded at the thought of but I'd rather wear thick hideous glasses for the rest of my life than go blind. Anything but going blind. I nearly fainted because on top of that she said it might take 10 to 15 years for them to go away so I'd be about 27 or 32 years old when they're completely gone! Good thing is she inspected them and said that I luckily don't have it bad at all so if I follow those rules the minor ones I have now should be gone within a year. Phew~

So for those of you circle lens lovers/addicts, now you know why it's a BAD idea to wear those things over 8 hours. Finally glad someone told me.

I know all of this sounds scary but this all was just explained to me within a few minutes at the eye doctors office and I felt really overwhelmed. My vision seems so much more fragile now than it ever has in my entire life and I appreciate being able to see my friends and family each and everyday of my life.

To brighten up the mood in this post, Monday I went to get pictures taken of my retina and get my glasses. Basically the only thing that was found slightly wrong with my eyes was a slight thin area on my right eye which my doctor assured me is nothing to fret too much about so I am very thankful I didn't hear anything like "You're going to be fully blind by the age of 20 so enjoy your vision while it lasts." The world as I knew it would have ended right there. Oh before I go, here's some pictures of my glasses. I was gunna take some with them on buuuuut I just look like a grandma and I don't want anyone to see that XD Maybe I'll leave that for another post.

Thanks for reading!

Asian Guys and Black Girls Rant: Stereotypes

Yes I finally made a video on this subject. Took me a while but I did it! I plan on doing several of these and sending them to various Asian guys on Youtube and to see if they respond or not. I know it sounds bold, daring, and probably to some of you stupid. But I just want to see what they have to say. Out of all the videos I see on YT about Asian males and Black females, only a few Asian guys have responded to them in a video response and that irks me to be truthfully honest. I don't want to force anyone to do anything, but at the same time if no one is speaking up for Asian guys, then who will and when?

I already am fully aware I'm probably going to get a bunch of shit for making these videos but I can careless. I just want to do this to come to a conclusion. Since many people over the internet are less fearful of stating their opinion, then let's see what they have to say to this topic that hardly ever gets noticed unlike other interracial relationships do. Now don't get me wrong, I'm NOT only attracted or interested in Asian guys. Let me say that I love all colors of the rainbow . . . as long as you meet my standards. They aren't even that high to be honest. So please don't get that impression from me after watching this. I think I'll copy/paste this onto the description of the video cuz most likely someone's gunna attack me with that too. Well I can't please everyone :/ So anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the video. Man, my spring break is already almost over...WTF?! Gunna go cook up something in the kitchen so please leave a comment and rate this video if you feel the desire to do so :]

March 16th | Remembering you . . .

Today marks the second year of life without you existing mine.
Today I reminisce on the very moment I received the news that you passed away after two long years of pain and struggle.
Today I cry silently to myself wishing so terribly that you were here to see your family slowly progress in life. Today I cry because I know you didn't want to leave us this soon, and yet you are no longer here on this earth. Today is a day for you. I miss you, and I will never forget you for being in my life.

I will always and forever love you.

For those who don't know, this poem is about my dad. I've been dreading this day to come ever since February because I knew that this day would be filled with depression and sadness no matter what which I never look forward to dealing with. Majority of the time I keep those kind of emotions bottled in but something like this is more than I can handle. Way more. However, I talked to my mom about it in the car yesterday and thought of celebrating my father's life and the time he spent with us as a huge part of our family. That idea came so suddenly to me, but it was something that we really needed for this day and it thankfully came in the nick of time :)

It's been two years as of today since he died from cancer and it still feels like yesterday. It's so weird how life is. I haven't really seen him in my dreams as much as I did last year and the year before. Not sure why but I'm hoping it's becacuse he's too busy with his responsibilities with the man upstairs. Haha! In any case, I do hope in the many years to come we celebrate this day and have postive energy around us by doing so. That being his spirit.

Continue to Rest In Peace, Daddy.

Lady Gaga ft Beyonce - Telephone Official MV

Not sure if you all knew this or not, but I am a fan of Lady Gaga. I don't care how out there she is, in fact, that's one of the reasons why I love her so much. She's just a genius and doesn't care to step over the boundaries. As for her recently released music video "Telephone", I absolutely loved it! Although, I didn't think that this video would have been in the setting that they did it in, because I'm sure like a lot of people, expected it to be in some sort of club if you really listen to the lyrics but regardless of the storyline and how off it was with the actual song I still enjoyed it! Idk why I'm hearing so many negative feedback from it though :/ I thought the lesbian action was hot and Beyonce and Gaga's scenes together was too adorable I could not stop squealing when it first premiered on E! two nights ago! They're a great duo imo and I can't wait to see what Lady Gaga has next up her sleeve :D

What are your opinions, if any?

Angry rant: Watch that attitude

This isn't directed to anybody who's reading this (most likely). Just a few people I've been dealing with in class lately who've been driving me absolutely fucking nuts with their constant bitch fits. Now I get that things are stressful and you might have a lot going on in your life right now, but why the hell is it so necessary to let everyone around you know that by snapping at your classmates who are usually completely innocent? If there's one thing I cannot stand, it's someone who brings down the positive atmosphere just because they're having a shitastic day and pretty much make it all about them. Not only is it being self-centered, but it's damn right childish. In the work force, people are bound to have good days and bad ones but regardless of how your personal life is going you need to suck it up and do your job. This also means cooperate with your co-workers, in this case, your classmates!

And the whole being sensitive thing has gotta stop at some point in your life or else you're probably going to not make it by the age of 30. Before, I used to look at the people who teased me beyond imagination for my appearance in elementary school with such hatred and today I still do but not as much as I did back then. Now I've come to realize all of that made it easier on me to deal with people when they try so hard to bring you down or to deflate your bubble for what ever reason. I can say I have rhinoceros skin but only to an extent because nobody is completely immune to what others have to say about them and idgaf what they say. Unless you're disabled to hear what people have to say about you, which I doubt most people are, then you're bound to be affected by it in some way or another. However it's up to you how you choose to deal with it. The point is, everyone is a jerk and they're going to tell you things that are going to probably hurt your feelings but it's not the end of the world so my question is to those people who motivated me to write this blog, why the hell are you acting like it is? By the end of the day, you're going to do you (at least you should) so why fuss over what some nobody said? It was most likely their opinion, therefore you shouldn't always take it to heart especially if you know you aren't in the wrong.

*sigh* I just hate dealing with people who don't know how to control their emotions. I'm out.

Weekend fun with movies!

I'm always posting a lot during the weekends I've noticed haha! Can't help it I suppose since I have more time on my hands. Just wanna say I watched two movies. Legion (at the dollar movie theater) and of course, Alice in Wonderland *cues angelic music* This may contain some spoilers so don't read the reviews on the movies you don't wanna hear about until you see it for yourself ;3

I'm gunna start of with Legion. In the beginning I was a tad bit unsure of the meaning behind the story to begin with. I mean I knew it had to deal with an apocalypse sort of thing but I didn't know exactly where the angels and holiness tied in to it since everything turned to chaos. Anyway, I just looked at it as just a movie and not the real deal. It was good for the most part. I found a lot of the movie funny though. For some reason I tend to lmao when I see people getting their ass beat senseless even if it is quite gory. I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. Although I enjoyed it, I'm pretty glad I didn't spend more money to go watch it when it was still in regular theaters.

I think it's fair to say that this movie certainly did meet more than my expectations. Tim Burton did a fantastic job and I loved the animation, make up, costumes, Alice's many cute different dresses, and the overall story! There were several parts that I found absolutely hilarious but now that I'm looking back on it, I really do wish I went and watched it in 3-D. However, since this was one of those movies I don't mind seeing again I might just go and do that another time. I've always loved Disney's Alice in Wonderland and seeing Tim Burton make this film was a huge delight because the guy is a genius in his own unique way. And don't get me started on Johnny Depp. Dude was, as expected, brilliant! Every time I see him play a new role he always inspires me as an actor. He was still hot as the Mad Hatter xD Alice looked like a doll. She had that awkward beauty thing going on which I think was perfect for the part of Alice unlike the generic pretty girls at the scene of the engagement party. I give this movie a 10 out of 10!

I got so inspired that I decided to do this look based from Michelle Phan's Tim Burton make up video.

Here's my own version of the tutorial.

Apart from all of the movies I saw, I am really loving how I'm spending my weekends lately! I've been going out a lot more with my friends and still catching up on my sleep. Never mind the homework part, haha! Now I'm going to end this long post. Till then everyone!

March 6, 2010

Spring time is finally here :D

Technically, spring's already been here but it's starting to feel more like it outside as the days roll by. I was originally thinking of going shopping for a bunch of spring and summer clothes, but I think I just need a few after cleaning out my closet and finding all of these forgotten shirts and bottoms. The outfits I wanna start rocking are these I found on Cherry Pop.

Before, I wasn't too crazy about flower patterns at all on any of my clothes probably because it reminded me of boring old country people :P But now, I'm starting to really like them! I'm hoping I find really good deals since I am afterall on a budget.

Lately I've been noticing some bloggers posting up nail polish colors so I wanna join in and show you all this pale rose nude nail polish from Revlon.

I've have this for years but I never used it until now. Now I realize how gorgeous this color is! Especially with an O.P.I. nail polish base. I probably should have applied a second coat for my nails but the color still came out pretty well.

Before I go I'd like to thank Sara Mari for featuring me on Fashion Hime Friday. Don't know what it is? Check it out for yourself :]

Gilly Hicks & Olive Garden

Two great combinations to incorporate into my weekend. Saturday I had absolutely no plans. I was probably going to end up finish watching the 2nd season of Vampire Knight since it was getting so good but then I realized no one on Youtube has episode 14 :( If anyone knows where they might have the rest of Vampire Knight GUILTY eps, leave a comment so that I'll know.

Then my friend Derric called and asked--pfft more like forced me to go shopping with him. I was gunna say no cuz I wanted to have a lazy day at home but then I thought why not. I can probably get something out of it. We went to a nice mall called Willowbend located in Plano, TX :D

(photo not taken by me)
We got there and it looked really clean and nice. Surprisingly this mall doesn't have a theater but it compensates with all the good stores they have inside. We walked around just browsing in and out of stores (mostly the ones I wanted to go into bc I'm like that lol) then thankfully right before we were about to leave we saw this appealing entrance to this other store. It looked very similar to the entrance of a Ruehl store or kind of like Hollister for those who've never seen Ruehl.

The store was called Gilly Hicks and I've never been or even heard of it before in my life. Then we got there and the nice ladies explained to us that it was mainly a pantie and bra store (like Victoria Secret but w/o all the make up) and at first I thought okay let's leave bc I'm not about to spend $30 on one bra. But then I looked around and they actually had good deals! Well on their body fragrance at least.

I bought these for only $15 and they smell so lovely! Even thought I have way too many body fragrances to begin with, I couldn't resist. I will most likely be returning to that store again next time we pay another visit to Willow Bend. 'Twas so nice!

Then we got hungry and wanted to eat at a restaurant so we went to Olive Garden. There was a little wait but it could have been worse. I honestly had no clue what to try. I love Olive Garden so I pretty much will eat anything on their menu! In the end, I chose I think it was the Lasagna Classico and Zeppoli for my dessert. All of it was too filling but it was oh so good.

Derric got the Tour De Italy.

All in all, everything was pleasant this weekend. Only thing that kind of sucks is that my throat has been scratchy for that past 4 days and it's been progressively getting worse. Well, at least I get the pleasure of freaking people out with my astonishingly deep manish voice. I probably won't be super active till about Mid-April because of school and the play I'm in so don't expect a crap load of posts from me. Still leave me lots of love~
